The Open-Air Transload Building makes it easy for customers to add a typical post-War freight transfer facility near their yard or team track. The kit features a large “concrete“ loading dock, enclosed staging warehouse and sheltered dock. It‘s patterned after a Santa Fe prototype and is a great destination for box cars and flat cars. It‘s a natural for detailing with pallets, drums, sacks and forklifts (sold separately) and makes a great stop for wayfreights and switchers if you‘re into prototype operations.

Das Railroad Tugboat ist eine spezielle Version des bekannten Hafenschleppers. Das Railroad Tugboat schiebt “Car Floats“ (das sind unmotorisierte Barken mit Gleisen auf dem Deck) mit Güterwagen. Based on typical North American prototypes, Walthers non-operating stationary Track Scales make great additions to yard or industrial scenes from the steam-era to the present. Stationary track scales require that the car to be positioned on the scale track and then weighed. The weighbridge of the track scale has two sets of rails, the set closest to the scale house is for weighing the cars, the second set of rails allows passage of the locomotive and cars that don‘t need weighing.
This kit includes parts to build one light-duty scale with a wood deck and one heavy-duty scale with a concrete deck. Also included are parts for one flat-roofed and one peaked-roof scale house matching common prototype designs. Track alignment guides on the base plate make it simple to lay rail on the weighbridge deck. The scale house interior includes realistic interior details including the scale beam.

Mountain Lumber Company Sawmill

Whether set in the days when Shays and Heislers ruled the forests, or served by contemporary diesels and trucks, the Mountain Lumber Company can be the centerpiece of any logging operation. Everything you‘ll need to start work is included, from the Log Conveyor to the Burner. The Mill Building is enclosed with board and batten siding and covered with a corrugated metal roof. This style is typical of permanent operations or those that ran in areas where the weather could turn cold. At the back is a canopied area, where fresh-cut boards are sorted. To keep the machinery running, there‘s a nicely detailed Powerhouse with twin smokestacks. And for the final touch, you get a Sawdust Burner, used to dispose of scrap lumber and sawdust from the cutting operations. Typical of buildings constructed from the 1920s to the 1940s and still in use today, your finished model fits easily into steam- or diesel-era layouts.

Meet the needs of today‘s logging operations by adding this set of structures to the Mountain Lumber Co. Saw Mill (933-3058, sold separately). The kit includes four complete buildings, typical of the equipment installed at contemporary mills. The Log Debarker is the first stop for logs heading into the mill. Inside, the bark is ground away, producing more useful timber with less waste material. A quick pass through the Wood Chipper reduces scrap lumber and bark into woodchips. The lightweight chips are blown through pipes to the chip loaders for shipment to paper mills and other users. The kit includes a Rail Car Loader with its special equipment for loading Woodchip Hoppers, available separately. The Truck Woodchip Loader (perfect for use with the Woodchip Truck #933-4013, sold separately) comes complete with gravity-feed storage bin and blower details. Finished models measure:
